NoStereo's News

Posted by NoStereo - August 7th, 2020

This has been a rough week. Been quite depressed and feeling very uninspired. I did manage to make a few pieces but they are all for other projects, so I can't share them with y'all. I did forget I had some completed songs though so I'm gonna push those out to make up for my dumb feelings getting in the way lol.

My gameboy is having some issues, I think I'm gonna have to return it. Oh well :/

I'm planning on getting a valve index which is probably a stupid decision, it's stupid expensive so I'll need the money so all is not lost I guess. The one I bought was a little on the expensive side and I can get another gameboy for cheaper I found. Really sucks cause I was really looking forward to having fun with the console of my childhood again. I still have my PSVita so I can enjoy patapon 2 still, along with a few other classics I enjoyed.

Releases

I forgot I made this one, I just needed to come up with a good name for it and I think I got a good one. A city of dreams is what I decided to go with. The working title for it was valentine, which I think also fit a bit but didn't make much sense to publish it under that name at this time. I hope you enjoy it! I'm pretty proud of this one :)

Not gonna lie, this has been a week of high highs and low lows. Butg first off I would like to thank all my fans and listeners! It made a feel bad week a little bit better, and made this week something to remember, not for the bad times but for the good ones. I've been dealing with some depression lately, I take medication for it (bi-polar) but it seems like I need a change in my prescription. It's taken away inspiration, and ruined a lot of enjoyment I have in things. I've found paths around this, though they don't always work it helps.

I got my PS Vita and 3DS working, I honestly thought they were dead but it turns out that the vita needed to be charged a lot before turning on. The 3DS well that just needed a charger, which I found. One of my favorite games of all time is Patapon, but I never finished it, so I got that for the vita (I had it for the psp, and that one is def dead lol) and that has been fun.

Enough of that though, what happened in the music world for me!

Releases

This week I got 3 songs out which is awesome! The first song I posted was a song I made for a game in development called Plan Of Life. I'm really excited for it, even though it is early in development. It's the kinda game I really like, casual but with some in depth elements you can really explore. The OST for the game is going to be chiptune and mainly quite chill music. Check it out!

The next song I released was a bit of a meme lmao. It started as a bit of joke but it turned into something cool. The original goal was to create the worst clipping heavy af bass as you could. I turned it into something a bit different, requiring everything I have to have a melody to it. I didn't want the song to have just ridiculous bass so I kept in a bit of treble to carry you through, added in a bunch of drops and made everything progressively heavier. If you have a sub to listen on, it's a definite must if you like heavy bass and to an extent, earr$#%.

Lastly but hell no is it the least. I made it into the NGADM competition here on Newgrounds and I immediately went to work. I worked almost nonstop on this song, I'm not sure if I even ate that day I was so focused and inspired due to making it in. I think it's one of the best songs I've made yet. And it seems Newgrounds agrees, with it hitting the frontpage, again THANK YOU <3. It also hit 2nd place weekly which is my first audio trophy EVER! I was super excited when I found out. I'm not sure if I will make it to the next round, you never know, but I'll be happy if this was the last song I put forth in the competition :)

And that's about it for the week, shortly after I posted my NGADM submission I hit a major slump and got hit with depression fairly big time. Hopefully this coming week brings happiness and the will to create more music! I always push through, it's just a matter of time.

Well here it is! I think I came up with something great and I gave it my all. There isn't any more I feel like I can do with it so I'm releasing it! I hope it does well in the competition and scores decently, even if I don't proceed, I'm up against some great artists.

It's a blend of electronic and classical elements.

I hope you enjoy my song :)

almost 8 hours spent today, and I am very happy with my progress. I think I got everything properly mixed and mastered, I'm just gonna have a few friends listen before I post, probably tomorrow!\

Actually I am gonna have to ask how submissions work in the rounds lol, is it a tag? or forum response?

Oh Jeez, now it's time to really pull myself together! Once I saw the news I made it in I immediately began work.

And... well the song is done. Now I spend the next 2 weeks making it perfect. I'm really proud of what I've made for the competition, but a lot of work needs to be done. When I say the song is finished I mean I got a song here, but it's still a little jank. It needs to flow a bit better, and I need to delve deep into my notation. Mixing and mastering is also up there on my list of course.

It's a blend of electronic and classical instruments, and has some funk to it. It has something of a disco feel to it actually.

Now I'm off to play some monster hunter and regroup my energies and take a break from the song for now so I can come back fresh.

This is my first official weekly recap post! 🎉🥳 Cause the other one didn't count haha.

This has been a crazy week for me, and exhausting to a degree. I wanted toi continue to challenge myself and give myself goals so I joined a few projects. Time will tell how well those pan out but I have high hopes that everything is going to be awesome! Unfortunately I have been feeling a little burnout and lack of inspiration, but these things happen and I'll just have to push through and re-find what I need.

Releases

Earlier this week I released The Mall! Which is my attempt at a 16 bit mall/store theme for a fictional video game.

I'm really pleased with how it turned out and I love that so many appeared to enjoy it as well! Thanks y'all!

I just unleased a new tradck called Little Creature, a track for a new video game project I am involved in. It's still super early in development but it has a ton of potential and I am very excited to see how far it will go.

Projects

Azure Domain -

I've been a part of this project for a while. It's been little more than half a year, and the team is almost ready to unveil our first demo. Up until now everyone has only been able to watch dev logs and such. So that is super exciting.

Right now I'm working on success and failure state music for the demo. I'll be straight up here, having a bit of trouble with the victory music, but I have finally made something promising I'm going to be moving forward with.

The Plan of Life -

I've already talked a bit about this project above but there is still more to say. I'm super excited about this game because it is my jam! I love simulation games and evolution sims in particular. The plan includes some very in depth stuff that is going to make it very interesting. As of right now it's probably going to be a fairly passive experience, but we'll see where it goes :)

For right now, all the music I'll be making for the game is chill chiptune music.

Tales of Motherbase -

This is another new project I've joined, which is a motion comic inspired by the Metal Gear Solid franchise. So give me strength because the music I'll be making for this better be good haha. The director of the project loved my demo so that is great! Now I've got to deliver on my unsaid promise and make some real good music.

And that's that! Thanks for reading my terrible post if you made it this far! I'll see you next week for another recap, hopefully this coming week will bring rejuvenated inspiration and great productivity :)

I think I'm going to start making regular posts on newgrounds, I want to be more active on the site and I think it will be a good way to chronicle my life in a way. So if you are interested in a read from a poor writer then get your butts ready every saturday for a recap post. To make up for last saturday I do have some things I would like to say.

Frontpaged!

Last week (and a few days in advance 👀) was an exciting time for me, that really improved my morale and sparked a measure of inspiration in me. I helped a member who had broken headphones master his song and both of us were estatic it hit the frontpage!

He really did some fantastic work. I hadn't made any DnB/Dance style stuff in a long time so I decided to give it a shot. Though I can't give J-DieswYx all the credit for inspiring my next song it definitely played a part. My music tends to be very structured and tame, especially recently, stuck in a chillout phase. A friend of mine Wilieu had been bugging me for ages to make something completely off the wall. So I gave it a try, and made something that blew out the speakers. I toned it down to make it more listenable and released what is probably my most popular song of all time.

It blew my mind when it hit the frontpage, and at the same time Wilieu made it with her song Mistronaut

I was actually jumping and squealing in joy. A few days later I could not believe my luck when I had made it to the frontpage again.

So, it has been an emotional af time for me. As a creative I spend a lot of my time wondering what people think of my work. Constantly struggling with the thought that I have no skill and should just stop making music. Seeing my music on the frontpage has really helped inspire me and validate my skills. It's so odd that after 10 years making music, I still have those struggles. So thank you Newgrounds, and every single one of you.

I can't thank Tom Fulp enough for creating this website. It's Newgrounds in the first place that really got me going on my journey making music. I think the influences NG has left on me will continue to shine through all of my music.

Contests

I've entered NGADM and the NGUAC! I'm super excited to see whether I made it in or not. I hope I did, I've been really feeling an urge to participate in things more, and contests are a good step in that direction. Best of luck everybody!

I'm also very excited for thje NeoGeo Jam. It's been a long time since I've made anything retro so I gave it a shot and created something retro!

It was loosely inspired by Pokemon and wow do I mean loosely. When I make music I don't tend to study work I just let the feeling of something come over me. So I took what I felt was the feeling of a pokemon song I was listening to at the time and let that drive my own creativity. It's a happy song and I'm really proud of what I was able to make.

So... I'll continue making music, I'll continue posting, and I'll continue loving newgrounds. Never go away.

See you all later :)

2009, I made my first account on Newgrounds. I began posting my crappy music slowly getting better, not without thanks to members of the community supporting and offering advice. Now I'm here, releasing my first commercial album.

It's an emotional moment for sure, because I don't think I ever truly believed I would be in this position. It's a good time to be an independent musician, and do this without a label.

The journey doesn't end here, neither does my relationship with NG, I've only just taken the next step. I ❤ everyone on this site, all the OG NG musicians that inspired me, everyone that ever left a review or left a rating, and all the missing friends with abandoned accounts...

I'll be posting the songs here on NG over time, if you want to listen and support me, listen on your service of choice here

If you don't have a subscription to anything, youtube music is free to everyone. I'd really appreciate you taking the time to listen, as I always have. It's always been about sharing my love, and letting out my emotions to the world.

Like the title says, nobody ever reads these things. So I'm probably not going to make anymore news posts. I'll let my reviews and music releases be the voice I project across the site. At least people see/hear that. These are just wasted effort. I might come back and update this with releases or something idk.

My album Empty is coming out on March 9th 2020, I hope you all will enjoy the music.

I've been working like crazy to get this music done. My album 'Empty' is filled with some of the greatest music I have ever produced. Currently the goal is set and met, at 7 songs, 30 minutes in length. All that is remaining now is finishing touches, which could take a while. There are 2 tracks I want to take a closer look at and update them a bit.

If you are interested in following up, and getting updated, follow me on twitter, join /r/nostereo, or take a look at any of the links at the left. Now let's take a look at some of what my album has to offer :)
